Privacy Policy

TeeUp ("we," "us," or "our") helps golfers find playing partners by location and vibe. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using TeeUp, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

Account details: your email address and password (passwords are stored in encrypted form by our authentication provider).
Profile information: your name, username, date of birth (used to calculate and display your age range — your exact birthday is not shown to others), years playing, handicap, home location/town, bio, profile photo, and the vibe tags you select.
Content you create: tee times you post, rounds you join, group and direct messages, images you send, friend requests, and any reports or support messages you submit.

Information collected automatically

Location: if you grant permission, we use your device's location to show nearby tee times and golfers and to sort results by distance. You can decline or revoke this at any time in your device settings; location features will simply be turned off.
Usage and device data: basic technical information needed to operate the app, such as app activity, timestamps, and error logs.

2. How we use your information

To create and manage your account and golfer profile.
To match you with nearby golfers and tee times based on location and vibe.
To enable core features: posting and joining rounds, messaging, friend connections, and notifications.
To keep TeeUp safe — reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, and addressing blocked or abusive behavior.
To respond to your support requests and feedback.
To maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

3. What other users can see

TeeUp is a social app, so some information is visible to other golfers by design. This includes your name, username, profile photo, handicap, years playing, general location/town, vibe tags, and the tee times you host or join. If you set your profile to private, it is hidden from the "Find your squad" discovery feed. Messages are visible to their intended recipients (the other person in a direct message, or members of a round's group chat).

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to run TeeUp:

Service providers: we use Supabase to provide authentication, database, and file storage. Your data is processed and stored on their infrastructure under their security and privacy commitments.
Other users: as described in the section above.
Legal reasons: if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the public.

5. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we need to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

6. Your choices and rights

Access and update: you can view and edit your profile information at any time in the app.
Location: you can turn location access on or off in your device settings.
Account deletion: you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (see below). Depending on your region, you may also have rights to access, correct, or restrict the processing of your data.

7. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls provided by our infrastructure partners. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's privacy

TeeUp is not intended for children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your region, if higher) to use TeeUp. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

9. International users

TeeUp currently serves golfers in British Columbia, Canada. If you access the app from elsewhere, be aware that your information may be processed in Canada and other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, provide notice within the app. Your continued use of TeeUp after an update means you accept the revised policy.
